DP43 2d Small Trial Re-joined POSTALLY Used PAIR

This Unique reconstructed pair (Row 2 1-2) used Illegally at Gerrards Cross with the 310 1844 type numerals of that town. Until the discovery that these two stamps originally formed a pair it had been assumed that Used examples of this proof had been removed from the 1841 Postmasters Notice and were chance examples of Postal Fraud. The existence of this Pair indicates that someone possibly a Postal Official or employee had access to these in sheet form and was systematically using them for Postal Fraud. The Right Hand example has a central Thin. This is Ex Alcock (Durham) and has a RPS Cert. The left hand example is Ex Seymour and has a RPS and a BPA Cert.
